Toddler Approved: 6 Best Spider Books for Kids

Is your little one fascinated by spiders? If so, you're in luck! There are tons of amazing spider books out there that are perfect for toddlers.

Reading with your toddler is a great way to bond and introduce them to new ideas and vocabulary. And what better way to teach them about the world around them than through stories about spiders? Spiders are not only fascinating creatures but also important members of the ecosystem. By reading about spiders with your toddler, you can help them learn to appreciate and respect all creatures, big and small.

I think I want to write a spider children's book with fun facts!

Did you know!?! Not all spiders spin webs. The next time you read a spider book with your kid, tell them this fun spider fact. But be prepared to back up this fact with some names (we all know how many questions toddlers ask! So here is a great article with spider pictures of some spiders that don't spin webs).

Here are 6 spider books for kids that are some of our favorites:

This list may contain affiliate links, but as a mom to a former toddler, I can promise you that all of these spider books for kids are toddler and mom-approved.

1. Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani

This classic rhyming book is a must-have for any toddler's library. This classic rhyming spider children's book is a great way to introduce your toddler to spiders. The simple, repetitive text is perfect for little ones, and the illustrations will captivate them. Make sure to practice the hand motions that accompany this tale. "The itsy bitsy spider goes up the waterspout... Down came the rain and whooOooooosssseeee washed the spider out."

2. The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle

Follow the busy spider as she goes about her day in this beautifully illustrated book. This popular book by the same author as the picture book The Very Hungry Caterpillar is perfect for curious toddlers. With its detailed illustrations and simple text, it's a great way to teach your child about the busy life of a spider.

3. Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

This classic tale is a must-read for any spider lover. If you are into reading longer books about spiders to your toddler, this is an easy read (of course, toddlers won't really understand the book's meaning). While this classic novel is a bit longer and more complex than the others on this list, it's still a great choice for a spider-loving kid.

4. Miss Spider's Counting Book by David Kirk

This favorite spider book celebrates over 25 years of being a favorite for toddlers. Because what toddler doesn't love to learn to count with the help of some friendly (albeit a bit icky) spiders? This spider board book helps teach young kids how to count.

5. Randall the Blue Spider Goes Surfing by Ryeson & Shana Bull

You know we had to include our own tale of a nervous spider who wants to go surfing but is afraid that the other bugs will laugh at him. This spider book for kids is a super easy read and helps teach toddlers about coping skills to help overcome nervousness. Oh, and Randall the Blue Spider is just the first of three books about spiders written by a toddler (who is now in elementary school).

6. Spiders by Gail Gibbons

This non-fiction book is perfect for toddlers who want to learn more about spiders. It's a super easy read with beautiful illustrations and lots of interesting facts about spiders.

Oh, and another fun spider fact -- Did you know: Spiders are not Insects!!?!

The spider belongs to the arachnid family of animals. Arachnids include spiders, scorpions, mites, and ticks. The biggest difference between arachnids and insects is their number of legs. Spiders and other arachnids have eight legs. On the other hand, insects only have six legs.

That is the difference between two legs! Which just so happens to be the number of legs we humans have!
